Vineyard Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Vineyard Manager to manage one of New Zealand’s most exciting vineyards. Pyramid Valley’s iconic Waikari Vineyard, 6.9 hectares of high-density Biodynamic Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, planted at 8000-10000 vines per hectare.

We are looking for someone that above all has passion for growing fine wine, has great leadership skills and attention to detail. This is a hands-on role for someone that enjoys getting stuck in and is competent in operating vineyard machinery.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading and managing the vineyard team, both permanent and seasonal staff.

• Staff recruitment for seasonal tasks

• Managing the vineyard budget

• Planning and managing all Vineyard activities, including -

o   Pruning

o   Frost fighting

o   Cultivation

o   Spraying

o   Canopy work

o   Disease monitoring

o   Biodynamics

• Help with drone spraying and undertake training to become a drone pilot

• Record keeping and Spray Diaries.

• Maintain BioGro and Demeter certification of the vineyard

You will work closely with the National Viticulturist who is based in Central Otago and the Estate Manager/Winemaker who is based at Waikari.

You will report to the Estate Manager/Winemaker.
