An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, hardworking vineyard operator to join our Viticultural team at Te Mata Estate.
Te Mata Estate is New Zealand’s oldest winery, proudly family-owned since 1896. We farm 135 hectares of vineyards across five sites in Havelock North and west of Hastings (Bridge Pa and the Gimblett Gravels), producing some of the country’s most acclaimed wines.
We are looking for a Vineyard Operator, whose primary role will be to operate modern vineyard machinery and assist the Vineyard Manager in general vineyard activities.
Ideally, you will have experience with vineyard operations such as canopy spraying, undervine weeding equipment (mowing or cultivation), trimming, mulching, mowing, leaf plucking etc. Experience with machine harvesting would be helpful, though not essential.
We are looking for someone to join our team who is honest, reliable, hard-working, a great communicator and efficient with their time.
You’ll be joining a team that’s passionate about regenerative viticulture, cares deeply for the land, and is committed to innovation and developing new techniques for a more sustainable future.
The role will require some flexibility in working hours, in order to meet seasonal requirements.
