We are seeking people to join our Matua team and share in the continued growth and success of our Iconic New Zealand wine brand.

Vintage Winemaker

About the role

Joining our winemaking team under the guidance of the Senior Production Winemaker, you will play a pivotal role during vintage.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing fermentations and inoculations, overseeing cellar operations/lab operations as required

  • Analyzing lab results and making precise wine adjustments

  • Prioritizing cellar tasks and aligning with site resources as required over vintage

  • Ensuring clear communication within the team to meet quality standards and production goals

  • The opportunity to work closely with premium fruit parcels from across NZ

  • Direction as required from the winemaking team

About you

This exciting opportunity offers an opportunity with the Matua team, providing a platform to enhance your winemaking expertise and expand your professional network.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A tertiary qualification and hands-on experience in Winemaking and cellar production

  • A systematic and methodical work approach

  • In-depth knowledge of various winemaking conditions and production scenarios

  • Ability to work both independently when required, and as part of a wider team

  • The ability to lead and delegate tasks as required

  • Knowledge and previous experience using Vintrace, or similar winemaking system, would be highly regarded

Vintage Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Laboratory Technician with strong attention to details and intention to learn.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Ferment samples run & inoculation checks

  • Analysis of juice and wine samples in an accurate and efficient manner

  • Record all relevant records to ensure a complete auditable process

  • Interpret and action reporting of tests effectively

  • Perform calibration and standardization requirements

About you:

  • Outstanding level of commitment, drive and initiative

  • Ability to follow directions and work cooperatively with others

  • Good communication, organizational, planning and problem-solving skills and able to prioritize tasks

  • Able to perform manual handling tasks and work long hours (a medical check will be part of the process)

  • Safety mindset

  • 1 + Vintage experience

  • Ability to work weekends, afternoon, and night shifts, 12 hours per day 6 days per week when required during busy period
