Senior Winemaker

Hawke's Bay Vintners are looking to recruit a Senior Winemaker to lead our team, delivering the highest quality Winemaking Service to our customers and oversee the daily operation of our well-appointed winery. (Immediate Start)

About Us

Hawke’s Bay Vintners is a custom crush facility based in urban Napier, making commercial, premium and ultra-premium wine for a range of medium to large clients. This mix ensures a constant variety of work and gives exposure to many different wines, wine styles and winemaking philosophies.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced winemaker to run our company's winery and winemaking operations effectively and efficiently with the highest quality outcome that can be achieved, using best winemaking practices, to the specification provided.

You'll oversee the winery operating budget, the production of wines from grape receival through to blending, planning, tasting of wine trials and preparation for bottling.

You’ll need to maintain good working relationships while being responsive and communicative with clients and staff to ensure activities are coordinated effectively and efficiently. When needed, actively promote Hawke’s Bay Vintners through various trade and public functions:

You’ll need…

You'll have a relevant winemaking qualification, experience and you will be:

• Experienced in leading a winemaking team.

• A reliable team player with a can-do attitude.

• Focused with a strong attention to detail with accuracy and have excellent time management skills with the ability to meet objectives and achieve deadlines.

• Skilled in MS Office. 

• Health & Safety minded, while leading by example and follow all safety procedures and protocols.

• Able to view projects long-term and think strategically.

• Excellent at relationship building.
