An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Regional Winemaker to lead the dedicated and passionate Winemaking and Operations team at our Marlborough Winery. With an annual crush of forty thousand tonnes, this position reports to the Head of Winemaking and is responsible for achieving successful outcomes, leading to the production of high-quality wines by a driven team that is inspired to be the best in the business.

Responsibilities will include: 

• Manage all winemaking, cellar processes and laboratory operations to ensure consistent high-quality outcomes 

• Lead, develop and manage the Winemaking, Cellar and Laboratory teams and promote a positive workplace culture 

• Review and maintain high quality winemaking procedures and practices  

• Generate and communicate plans for winemaking operations to ensure production targets are met 

• Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement in the approach to winemaking 

• Ensure the site is compliant with all necessary regulations

Our successful applicant will have:

• Tertiary qualification in Oenology  

• Demonstrable technical winemaking knowledge with over 10 years working in a high-performance environment managing medium to large scale winery operations 

• A collaborative and growth-focused leadership style with excellent people management skills

• Naturally high attention to detail and be quick to learn systems and processes

• Actively seek ways to improve systems and processes to create efficiencies  

• Motivation to succeed and thrive working in a high-performance culture delivering high-quality outcomes
