We are a very small team and everyone has cross-functional responsibility, covering tasks across the vineyard and winery. This role requires someone who is adaptable and flexible, and comfortable working collaboratively in a small team structure, as well as being self-motivated while working on individual tasks.

Job Description
The Assistant Vineyard Manager/Operator will support the Vineyard Manager in overseeing all vineyard operations to ensure the production of high-quality grapes. This role involves hands-on vineyard work, monitoring vine health, managing irrigation, pest control, and assisting with harvest activities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for viticulture, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, planting, and maintaining vineyard blocks.
Monitor vine growth, soil conditions, and pest/disease presence.
Implement vineyard management practices such as pruning, canopy management, and irrigation.
Operate vineyard equipment safely and efficiently.
Tractor and machinery operations: mowing, mulching, under vine cultivation, spraying and trimming
Installing and maintaining bird netting
Assist with harvest operations, including grape picking and processing coordination - Contractor liaison as required
Maintain accurate records of vineyard activities and inputs.
Collaborate with the Vineyard Manager to optimize grape quality and yield.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Ability to work weekends if needed
Qualifications
We will provide all necessary training required to perform the role, however:
Experience in vineyard operations or related agricultural work preferred.
Previous operator experience is preferred – forklift licence and grow safe certificate an advantage.
Knowledge of viticulture practices and grapevine biology.
Ability to operate agricultural machinery and tools.
Strong physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Valid & clean driver’s license required.
