About the Role

We are looking for an Assistant Winemaker to join our talented team and help drive our winemaking operations forward. This is an exciting opportunity to be hands-on in all aspects of the winemaking process while supporting our clients’ winemaking needs to the highest standards.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing daily winemaking operations and ensuring the production of wines of exceptional quality. You’ll work closely with clients and our winemaking team to implement strategies that align with each client’s vision while adhering to industry best practices.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and managing all phases of the winemaking process, including crushing, fermentation, racking, fining, filtering and dispatches, ensuring that production schedules and quality standards are met.

  • Monitor and perform cellar work, lab and sensory analysis, ensuring wine is made to the highest possible quality standards.

  • Lead and coordinate shift work over vintage, ensuring the team operates efficiently and safely.

  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop and refine winemaking plans, translating client objectives into successful outcomes.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of winemaking processes, systems, and quality control protocols.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and food safety assurance standards at all times.

  • Foster a positive, productive, and collaborative team environment, contributing to the wider company culture.

About You
We’re looking for someone with the following attributes:

  • A tertiary qualification in Winemaking, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on industry experience, including a solid background in wine production.

  • Proven expertise in managing cellar operations and familiarity with winemaking software like Vintrace.

  • A deep understanding of winemaking systems, processes, and safety requirements.

  • Exceptional organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • A self-starter with a strong work ethic, able to work independently as well as part of a close-knit team.

  • A passion for winemaking, with a sense of humour and an eagerness to contribute to a fun and energetic team environment.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients, ensuring their expectations are met and exceeded.

  • Competitive salary $63k-$73k per annum
