We are a well-established winery located in Marlborough, New Zealand, currently seeking an experienced Cellar Hand with maintenance skills to join our small and energetic team.

Start Date: Immediate or by negotiation

About the Role:

This is a hands-on, full-time position ideal for someone with winery experience and a practical approach to maintaining equipment and machinery. In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of all winery systems, from the cellar to the equipment. You’ll handle basic maintenance tasks to keep everything running smoothly, ensuring minimal downtime during both busy and off-peak seasons.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performing all aspects of cellar work: crushing, fermentation management, racking, blending, cleaning, etc.

• Basic maintenance and upkeep of winery equipment such as pumps, tanks, filters, and hoses

• Conducting routine inspections and addressing minor repairs or adjustments to prevent any equipment failures

• Ensuring the winery and cellar remain clean, safe, and organized at all times

• Working proactively to identify and resolve any minor maintenance issues

• Following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adhering to safety and quality standards

• Maintaining equipment cleanliness and functionality to ensure smooth daily operations

• Working independently, especially during vintage or peak periods

Requirements:

• Proven winery/cellar hand experience is essential

• Basic maintenance skills in relation to winery equipment (pumps, tanks, hoses, etc.)

• Ability to troubleshoot and carry out basic repairs to ensure minimal downtime

• Strong attention to detail and a hands-on, practical approach

• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for day-to-day cellar operations and equipment maintenance

• Physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks

• Flexible and reliable, especially during vintage (overtime may be required)

• Forklift license

Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand
