Assistant Winemaker

Tiki Wine and Vineyards Ltd is seeking a permanent Assistant Winemaker to join our winery team based in Waipara. Reporting to the Senior Winemaker and Facilities Manager, this role provides technical support across winemaking, cellar operations, quality, and compliance, while working closely with internal teams and clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on winemaker who is passionate about quality, continuous improvement, and working within a collaborative winery environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with winemaking operations in line with specification sheets and client requirements

• Supporting and managing wines within Tiki’s portfolio

• Supervising cellar staff and coordinating daily cellar activities

• Ensuring food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across all operations

• Preparing and maintaining cellar documentation, SOPs, and work orders

• Contributing to process improvement, problem solving, and continuous development

• Acting as a professional representative of Tiki Wine and Vineyards with clients and suppliers

About you:

• Experience or training in winemaking, or a related field

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively across teams

• A proactive, reliable, and team‑focused attitude

• Willingness to work flexible hours when required, including during vintage
