Harvest Winemaker

Fancy making wine in a city with some of the best grapes grown in the UK and Europe? Live in a city and make wine.

We're seeking a harvest winemaker for the 2025 vintage. This role could lead to a permanent position for the right candidate. Start in around August and finish in Nov/Dec.... All up for discussion. We could potentially be super keen to offer the winemaker a more permanent position but let's see who puts themselves forward and how it all goes...

Young, disruptive urban winery processing around 40 tons in 2025. We make pet nats, whites, skin contact and the odd red. We use hand harvested grapes from around the UK (Essex, Herefordshire, Hampshire etc) and Europe (Burgundy, Bordeaux, Lombardy etc). Small, dynamic team. Fully fitted out winery with drains, cooling/heating, 2 presses, destemmer, grape elevator, forklift and lots of toys.

This is a hands-on, full-on role though, suiting someone with confidence, good energy, a can-do attitude, and someone who really wants to make quality wine in new ways. We are not a traditional winery. Low intervention, but not natural. We use oak, concrete and stainless. We do wild and inoculated. We love to buy organic grapes where possible.

You need to want to take the bull by the horns, be up for a challenge, jump fully in and manage a cellar hand as well as getting involved in grape logistics. The winery is also an events space and bar, so you need to be comfortable with people! This role doesn't suit a super-duper introvert who never wants to see humans. We don't own a vineyard.

This is a hugely exciting project and we need a competent winemaker with a real "get stuff done" frame of mind.
