One of Central Otago's oldest family-owned wineries, we have a great environment at Chard Farm and we are offering an opportunity for an enthusiastic person to join our winery team.

We are looking for a Cellar Hand to join our small 2–3-person winemaking team. This is a full-time, permanent position at our winery in Gibbston with an immediate start date. Reporting directly to the Winemaker and undertaking the full range of cellar duties, the role offers the potential for promotion opportunities in the future.

Key Attributes We Are Looking For:

  • Experience in a similar role, with a mastery of the main winery processes – wine transfers and racking, barrel work, additions, filtration and harvest processing
  • Forklift experience
  • Good cellar hygiene and maintenance skills
  • Enjoy working in a small team or by yourself for long periods
  • Ability to multitask and complete more than one job at a time, under pressure

You Need To Demonstrate:

  • A desire to produce high-quality wine ranging from small batch Single Vineyard Pinot Noir, to large regional blends
  • A minimum of one year’s winery experience
  • Enthusiastic and motivated, with a willingness to learn
  • Ability to train and help supervise Harvest Interns
  • A desire to live in the Queenstown region and work and play in an alpine environment
