About this Role
This is a dynamic leadership role responsible for wine quality, best practice viticulture and delivering the group's 5-year viticultural plan.
The core responsibilities are:
- Accountable for New Zealand grape supply; ensuring supply meets global demand forecasts within approved budgets.
- Oversee and support the harvest across all regions and manage the logistics in Marlborough.
- Work alongside National Vineyard Operations Manager to ensure all company vineyards are producing grapes of the required quality specifications and within set budgets.
- Develop and lead business planning and implementation of strategies to align sourcing options with BWG demand plans for New Zealand produced wine.
- Foster innovation in work practices through R&D and integration of best practice into the business.
- Build and foster strong sustainable relationships with growers and suppliers.
- Drive the advancement of viticultural best practices and innovation within BWG’s own vineyards and established long-term growers.
About Booster
Booster Wine Group established in 2019, is a collection of premium NZ wineries and vineyards, including Awatere River of Marlborough, Waimea Estates and Gravity Winery of Nelson, Bannock Brae of Central Otago, and Sileni Wines of Hawkes Bay. This position is based at our Awatere River winery located in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley which produces premium Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Methode sparkling wine.
About You
To be successful in this role you need to bring proven viticultural experience (preferably from the Marlborough region) alongside sound business acumen and effective stakeholder relationship skills.
You will also have:
- A positive mindset and a passion for continuous improvement and sustainability.
- Effective collaboration skills with broad networks amongst the NZ and Marlborough Wine Growing Industry.
- Relevant tertiary qualification, in either viticulture, science, agri-business, or agriculture.
