We now have a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Viticultural Technical Assistant.

In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day vineyard duties focused on the seasonally relevant and time critical collection of viticultural data. As a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual, you’ll be a part of a proactive team who are passionate about creating wines that you’ll want to share.

This role is based at the Wither Hills winery in Blenheim and covers both company-owned and leased vineyards across the region, as well as occasionally supporting the grower program. The role is mainly based around business hours, with flexibility required during the frost season in spring and harvest.

This is a permanent role and requires that you be a New Zealand citizen or resident; please do not apply if you are not legally entitled to work in permanent employment in New Zealand.

Some of the skills you will bring:

• A current, full driver’s license.
• A good level of physical fitness.
• Previous training and/or experience in viticultural science – ideally, post-secondary qualifications.
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
• Exposure to handling multiple deadlines.
• Quality focused.
• Positive attitude – a love of working outdoors, the role involves a lot out field work.

Some of the activities you’ll be doing:

• Collection and recording viticultural and environmental data.
• Maintaining and updating data bases.
• Verification of sprayer and irrigation system calibration and accurate performance during seasonal vineyard operations.
• Pest and disease monitoring.
• Report research and writing.
