Batch Winery is located on Waiheke Island. Waiheke Island is a world-renowned wine region that produces critically-acclaimed artisan wines. Batch Winery has a reputation for producing high-quality collectable wines, particularly Bordeaux-style blends, Syrah, and Chardonnay. 

The Role:

As a Vineyard Supervisor and Tractor Driver, you will have a dual role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our vineyard while also operating and maintaining tractors and other specialised equipment. You will be responsible for supervising a team of vineyard workers, coordinating tasks, and ensuring that all vineyard operations are conducted efficiently and to the highest standards. Additionally, you will operate tractors and agricultural machinery to perform various tasks, such as spraying, mowing, netting and harvesting.

Responsibilities:

• Vineyard Operations: Supervise and coordinate all vineyard activities, ensuring vineyard health, maintenance, and efficient harvesting processes.
• Tractor Operation: Safely operate tractors and specialized equipment, performing tasks like spraying, mowing, netting, and assisting in grape harvesting.
• Team Management: Lead, train, and motivate vineyard workers, assign tasks, conduct performance evaluations, and promote a positive work environment.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance checks, keep records, and report equipment issues or repair needs.
• Record-Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of vineyard activities and prepare reports on performance, yields, and any encountered issues.

Qualifications:

• Qualification in viticulture, horticulture, or a related field preferred but not required.
• At least 1 years’ experience supervising and coordinating a growing season and managing a vineyard team.
• Tractor and machinery proficiency. At least 1 years experience spraying vineyards. Growsafe certification essential. Qualifications in tractor operation preferred.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work long hours and in various weather conditions.
