Awatere River Wines is located in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley producing premium Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Methode sparkling wine from our vineyards.

Awatere River Wines of Marlborough is part of Booster Wine Group which is a collection of NZ wineries including Waimea Estates of Nelson, Bannock Brae Estate of Central Otago, and Sileni Wines of Hawkes Bay. Booster, through its Booster Tahi investment arm, is making significant investments in New Zealand’s agricultural business including avocados, kiwi fruit, and through investments in the wine industry.

It is here at Awatere River Wines that a focussed, reliable team player is required to join our Marlborough winery as a Cellar Master.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person with solid experience working in the cellar. Experience in training and organising a team would also be advantageous in this role. Applicants will require sound attention to detail, strong interpersonal and communication skills, motivation, initiative, and ability to organise themselves and others.

You will also be comfortable to revise SOPs, keep staff training up-to-date, and work with the team to ensure the cellar remains compliant with H&S, Food Safety and WSMP requirements.

This is a hands-on role in a busy winery. You should have good practical cellar skills, be experienced on a range of winery equipment, and looking to manage cellar staff and pass on your knowledge.

You will need to have the ability to communicate well with positions at all levels of the business and be able to build a rapport with all staff. This is a role that will also provide some degree of support to the winemaking and lab staff, so it would suit someone who is keen to expand the scope of their skills and knowledge around wine production. You will be expected to have good written communications skills and be comfortable working with the cellar team on the floor as well as at a computer.

If this sounds like you, please forward a CV and a covering letter outlining your main areas of experience, via the ‘Apply Now’ button.

This position is full-time and permanent, so only people eligible to reside and work in New Zealand permanently should apply.

Only people eligible to work in this country should apply for this position. Please provide evidence of your work visa or citizenship.
