Mount Brown Estates is a 500T winery in North Canterbury; we make a wide range of wines – from small parcels of Chardonnay and Syrah aged in oak, to larger volumes of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris.

Our small team cross-over from vineyard to winery through-out the year, creating the opportunity to develop a broad skill-set. And we have experienced senior management who are proven mentors and keen to develop talent in the industry.

The role offers a wide variety of work, including hands-on vineyard work and operating a variety of machinery. You'll be part of the whole process of making our great wine from winter pruning, including cellar hand during the year and at vintage.

The role compromises two core areas of responsibility:

To assist the winemaker particularly during vintage and bottling

  • Cellar operations, including press pad operations, additions, rackings, transfers, barrel filling during vintage
  • Laboratory work and analysis
  • Reporting using Vinsight
  • Bottling/labelling

To assist the vineyard manager to optimise the quality and quantity of the grapes grown on the vineyard

  • Trellis and irrigation maintenance
  • Canopy management
  • Mowing, mulching and spraying
  • Basic maintenance work 

We're looking for someone who is keen to learn, has a love of the outdoors and an ambition to be part of a team making great wine. A proven ability with agricultural machinery would be an advantage. The role is physical so a good level of fitness is needed.
