Whitehaven Wine Company is a leading New Zealand family-owned wine company producing an award-winning collection of 100% Marlborough wines with an uncompromising focus on quality. Experienced Cellar Hands – Cellar or Lab based

Motivated individuals with previous cellar or laboratory experience - we are looking for you!

With a minimum of two vintages experience or one previous vintage at Whitehaven, you will have a solid understanding of most vintage related tasks and associated equipment and machinery.

Hourly Rate: $27.00 - $28.00 gross an hour

Number of Positions: 20

Key Tasks:

  • Operating machinery and performing routine tasks in the cellar or lab in a timely manner to assist in the production of the highest quality wines.
  • Assist with staff training.

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of two vintages experience, or one previous vintage worked at Whitehaven.
  • Good attention to detail and a willingness to adapt.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible and long hours and weekends.
  • Forklift experience is desirable but not essential.

Cellar Hands – Cellar or lab based

Enthusiastic individuals with either one vintage experience (not at Whitehaven) or those with no previous winery experience but a keen interest in the wine industry or simply those wanting to try something new - we are looking for you!

Hourly Rate: $25 - $26 gross an hour

Key Tasks:

  • Operating machinery and performing routine tasks in the cellar or lab in a timely manner to assist in the production of the highest quality wines.

Skills & Experience:

  • At least one prior vintage experience is desirable, but if not, then a keen interest and/or a willingness to learn on the job
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible and long hours and weekends
  • Forklift experience and previous machinery operation is desirable, but not essential 

All positions are for a fixed-term, located in Blenheim, Marlborough. The positions will commence late-February/early-March 2023 and run for a minimum period of 7 weeks, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours a week. Over harvest (approx. 3 weeks) shifts are 12 hours a day, 6/7 days a week, including weekends. Additional hours worked over 30 hours a week will be paid at the normal hourly rate for the position.

Whitehaven will provide:

  • One meal per day during shift work
  • Support with transport to the winery
  • Support with finding accommodation 

As well as the necessary experience, knowledge and skills for the advertised positions, you will have:

  • A good level of fitness

  • Attention to detail
  • A strong focus on safety
  • The ability to lawfully work in New Zealand or obtain the right to lawfully work in New Zealand
