Located in the heart of Marlborough’s wine region, Marlborough Vintners is a well-established wine production and processing company, recognised for providing scalable production facilities for small and large wine companies around NZ and the world. MV also own multiple vineyards and produce quality wines under the Ant Moore label.

Another exciting addition to the winery is the new in-house brewery and top room (DNA Brewing) and soon to open brand-new offices, cellar door, and restaurant - all set up and ready before 2023 Vintage!

Vintage 2023

Being a contract wine making facility, it provides an interesting and diverse range of work, wine styles and techniques. Taking in a capacity of around 12,000 tonne of grapes each harvest, their wines vary from small batch barrel ferments through to large volume tank ferments. Varieties you will see at Marlborough Vintners include Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Syrah.

Each year, Marlborough Vintners build a team of around 50 winery cellar staff with a range of experience and backgrounds to support in the years harvest.

The vintage season in Marlborough will begin early-March and MV have a range of positions available!

Supervisors/Experienced Cellar Hands

Hourly rate: $27.76 - $32 depending on experience

Key Tasks, Responsibilities and Experience:

  • This position requires a minimum of 2-3 vintages experience (added to minimum one-year total time of working as a cellar hand or equivalent role)
  • No formal qualifications are required for this role, however they are desired
  • You need to be able to train, lead and supervise a small team of people
  • Perform the full range of cellar operations efficiently and in a manner that maintains the quality and integrity of fruit/juice.
  • Operate winery machinery 
  • Play a large part in ensuring compliance with quality, hygiene, safety and environmental standards and processes.
  • Have effective communication skills (in English)
  • Ability to work 12 hours per day, 6 days per week. Minimum of 32 hours per week guaranteed and up to 72 hours per week during peak harvest. 

Cellar Hands (cellar or lab based)

Hourly rate: $24 - $27 depending on experience

Key Tasks, Responsibilities and Experience:

  • Previous winery experience is desired
  • Cellar Operations include but are not limited to, grape receival/processing, juice/wine transfers, additions, racking, filtration, inoculations, monitoring ferments, barrel work, plunging, blending, sampling, lab analysis, cleaning.
  • Play a part in ensuring compliance with quality, hygiene, safety and environmental standards and processes.
  • Have effective communication skills (in English)
  • Ability to work 12 hours per day, 6 days per week. Minimum of 32 hours per week guaranteed and up to 72 hours per week during peak harvest.
