Established in 2002, Sauvage Family vineyard T/A Burn Cottage Vineyard, has operated with biodynamic and organic practises from this time. The company vineyards (approx. 17Ha) are in the Lowburn and Bannockburn subregions and intensively farmed with high density plantings in most blocks. The winery and tasting room are in the town of Cromwell.  

Production is predominantly Pinot Noir, with a small area of Riesling and Gruner Veltliner, and total harvest currently around 90 Tons. Burn Cottage Lowburn vineyard is also part of a diverse property and wider integrated farm.  

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Cromwell with approximately 60% winery and 40% vineyard focus. Winery aspects encompass cellar and equipment operations with a focus on health and safety. Training and supervision of the harvest cellar team. Areas of winery administration, records and compliance are also included.

Vineyard focus includes pruning, seasonal monitoring, assisting with biodynamic work as required, reporting. There will also be assistance with tastings and events. You will work closely with the Winemaker and be part of a small team motivated to produce exceptional quality, site representative wines.

An ideal candidate for the position will have 4 + winery vintages experience, or a mix of vineyard and winery experience over this timeframe, with a focus on handcrafted wines of quality. Ideally, at least 3 vintages working with Pinot Noir. A positive, self-motivated attitude with a focus on detail, and with strong practical ability. Tertiary qualification is an advantage. Biodynamic or organic experience preferred.
