About us and the role

Pyramid Valley is a renowned producer of exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. We exist to share the pleasure, culture and craft of fine wine. Based in the beautiful Pyramid Valley, near the township of Waikari in North Canterbury, an opportunity has arisen for a full-time, experienced, quality-focussed Vineyard Manager who prefers a hands-on approach.

Reporting to the Group Viticulturist (in collaboration with the Estate Manager), the role is multi-faceted, involving all aspects of vineyard operations:

  • Provide exceptional operational planning, oversight and management to ensure all viticultural work at Waikari Estate and leased North Canterbury Vineyards is completed effectively, efficiently and to the highest standard,
  • Excellent people management skills, ensuring vineyard activities are undertaken accurately, effectively, and consistently to a high standard,
  • Management, training, supervision, and development of all vineyard staff
  • Maintaining accurate records of vineyard activities,
  • Adherence to health and safety requirements,
  • Keeping the estate, the infrastructure and equipment in their best condition,
  • Machinery operation and maintenance experience essential,
  • Work with our grower partners to ensure we succeed together,
  • And anything else that comes with running a high-end biodynamic vineyard!

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for growing high-quality grapes. An energetic person with excellent attention to detail and aspirations for best quality outcomes. A relevant tertiary qualification and 5 seasons’ practical viticulture experience is essential. Familiarity and experience with organic, biodynamic winegrowing practices and approaches is desirable. This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to get a foot in the door to a wine company that is growing and has high ambitions in the fine wine world.
