Harvest Intern 2022 - Vineyard/Winery Assistant
Company: Borthwick Vineyard
Uploaded: 10 November 2021
Closes: 10 December 2021
Borthwick Estate is an established 20 Ha vineyard and modern winery facility in the Gladstone region of the Wairarapa. We produce a range of premium and single vineyard wines from own and grower fruit. The varieties we work with are Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir. Over harvest we receive on average 180T of fruit. A combination of machine and hand harvested blocks.
We have a great opportunity for a motivated, positive individual, who is physically fit and prepared for the flexible and long hours required over harvest time.
The role would be a fixed-term position of 12 weeks with a salary. Ideally from mid-January to May 2022, this will be dependent on the successful applicant’s availability.
The position will provide the right applicant with a good understanding of the summer and autumn work schedule in both the vineyard and winery. Initially it will involve helping in the home and grower vineyards with netting, followed by preparation of the winery to receive fruit, helping the winemaker with cellar work, forklift work, fruit sampling and vineyard monitoring with the winemaker, winery fruit processing, racking, additions, plunging, and post-harvest clean up.
The ideal applicant will have a genuine interest in the vineyard and winery, a forklift ticket, be practical, calm under pressure, have some winery experience and be eligible to work in New Zealand. Tractor driving experience a bonus.
Only people eligible to work in this country should apply for this position. Please provide evidence of your work visa or citizenship.
