Burn Cottage Vineyard is currently looking for experienced Cellar Hands to join our team for the 2021/22 season. Usually, the positions will commence in the Vineyard for our growing season, then moving into the winery for harvest - giving a unique opportunity to learn about our biodynamic practices, while gaining in-depth knowledge of our sites before harvest. It may also be possible to join us for harvest only which is March/April.

Burn Cottage Vineyard is small company with vineyards in Lowburn and Bannockburn which are intensively farmed utilising organic and biodynamic farming practices. We produce predominantly Pinot Noir, along with a small section of Riesling and Gruner Veltliner.

Our ideal candidate will have relevant vintage experience, with a desire to produce wine of highest quality. Attention to detail is required as is a willingness to learn and apply our vineyard and winemaking methods. Bringing a positive attitude to our team environment is very important to us, as well as being self-motivated with excellent time management skills. Applicants must be fit to work in a physically demanding environment. Forklift experience is beneficial, however not required. Usually 40 hours per week, however during peak of harvest, you will be required to work up to 12 hours per day/6 days per week.

You would start in the vineyard with wire work, vine canopy management, green thinning and work with biodynamic preparations. Cellar activities including fruit receival, sorting and processing, fermentation management, barrel work and upkeep of cellar hygiene. You would be part of a small winery where you will have the opportunity to learn in all aspects of the cellar. 

Due to NZ border restrictions, applicants must be residing in New Zealand with a valid work visa, or have NZ citizenship or permanent residency.
