About Te Kano Estate
Te Kano is a family-owned, quality-focussed wine producer with 60 hectares of Estate vineyards in Central Otago and the Waitaki valley. With our 4 vineyards spread across several subregions and a variety of soils, aspects and elevations, our fruit delivers a unique insight into the effect of terroir on our wines.
We focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and increasingly are making multiple single subregion wines in a range of styles. We also work with Riesling, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Gamay Noir and Cabernet Franc.
Our winery is in Kurow, North Otago, and this is where the job is based. A two-hour drive from Central Otago, and 45 minutes from the Otago coast, the Waitaki Valley offers a range of outdoor activities and is a beautiful place to live and work.
About the Role
The ideal applicant will have previous winery experience, a positive attitude and the ability to work long hours in a physically demanding environment. A typical working week is 40 hours, however, during the peak of harvest you will be required to work up to 12 hours per day for 6 days per week.
Harvest duties will involve receiving and processing fruit, barrel work, juice transfers, racking and additions, and plenty of cleaning. Forklift experience is beneficial, though full training will be provided.
You will need your own transport, and we will assist with accommodation.
Please only apply if you are currently in New Zealand, and hold a valid work visa through until May 2022, or are a NZ Citizen or permanent resident returning by January. The New Zealand border is currently closed to non-New Zealand residents.
Applications must be accompanied by a CV.
