Wither Hills – Vintage 2022 Positions
We have a number of fixed-term positions available within our winery in Marlborough, so if you want to be part of a fun and motivated harvest team, make some great award-winning wine, and create memories to last a lifetime, then we want to hear from you!
Working closely with the Shift Supervisors, this position requires those who can lead, train and supervise a small team of people, have effective communication skills and be familiar with cellar operations. You will make health and safety a priority and ensure all tasks are completed to a high-standard and efficiency is maintained. Previous winery experience and/or supervising experience is preferred.
Previous winery experience and/or industry qualification would be an advantage, but not essential. Cellar hands will perform tasks such as cleaning, grape receival processing, racking, red and white ferment management, additions, barrel work and more.
The position will involve conducting routine analysis on juice and wine samples, as well as data entry. A qualification in science would be desirable and industry experience is preferred.
This role involves working across all areas and teams. It requires strong logistical, communication and organizational skills. Previous forklift experience is essential, a current NZ approved forklift license is an advantage, although training will be given to the right candidate.
Depending on the season, work will commence in mid-February and finish around mid-April (with the possibility of extension to some contracts). During the peak of harvest, team members will be required to work 12-hour shifts, six days a week. We’ll provide everyone with a delicious meal and continental breakfast during 12-hour shifts. We also have an array of social events throughout vintage.
All successful applicants will be offered an in-house induction and training for their roles, consider health and safety first and be open to learning our processes and procedures.
Due to the current closure of the New Zealand border, we are only accepting applications from New Zealand residents or international applicants who are currently in New Zealand. All applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

- Jobseekers should be aware that the start and finish dates of harvest work employment may change from those suggested by wineries at the time of your job offer. Vintage dates can not accurately be predicted.
It is therefore important that you understand that depending on your employment arrangements with the employer there may be a period of time where you have no work or less work than you were expecting, and should have sufficient financial arrangements in place should this occur. Your actual start and finish dates may vary - if you have queries around this, check with your winery employer before booking airline tickets etc.
