Located in the scenic heart of Marlborough’s golden mile of winemaking and with a brand new winery receival and press area ready for next year, we are now accepting applications from dynamic and driven individuals wanting to join our small and passionate winemaking team for vintage 2022. At Whitehaven we believe our wines can only be as good as the people making them and pride ourselves on providing a fantastic working and learning environment for all involved!
Harvest starts early-March and runs for 7 weeks, with around 3 weeks of shift work operating 12-hours a day, 6 days per week. While our standard contract lengths are 7 weeks, we have a limited number of contracts available up to 13 weeks duration and alternatively can also cater for those interested in contracts shorter than 7 weeks.
All positions advertised are full-time, fixed term.
Enterprising, hands-on Assistant Winemakers, with previous vintage experience and a winemaking qualification, we are looking for you! Passion for premium wines, a cooperative attitude, high attention to detail and a willingness to adapt to various tasks in the workplace is essential. Excellent communication and team leadership skills are also required and preference will be shown to those with prior Vintrace and data entry experience. You will have your own transport and be able to work flexible hours and weekends.
Experienced Cellar Hands
Motivated Cellar Hands with a minimum of two seasons vintage experience and/or level 7 tertiary qualifications in winemaking, we are looking for you! Having a proven track record working in a medium-to-large winery and excellent communication skills will help to land you these roles.
Enthusiastic individuals with one season vintage experience or those with no experience but a keen interest in the wine industry, we are looking for you! Preference will be shown to those with at least one prior vintage and/or forklift experience.
Enthusiastic individuals with one season’s winery lab experience or those with no experience but a keen interest in the wine industry, we are looking for you! Preference will be shown to those with at least one prior vintage in the lab or other laboratory experience. You will have your own transport and be able to work flexible hours and weekends.
Ideally you will have:
- A team player attitude with a great sense of humour!
- At least one prior vintage experience or an interest in the wine industry
- Sound communication skills
- Attention to detail
- A good level of fitness
- A strong safety focus
- The ability to lawfully work in New Zealand or obtain the right to lawfully work in New Zealand
