Greystone Wines is an innovative, certified organic, family-owned wine company based in North Canterbury. We are currently looking for an experienced machinery operator to join our small, quality focused team. Experience with vineyard specific gear is desirable, but not essential.
This permanent role is full-time, 40 hours a week. We are looking for someone with flexibility, with the possibility of more than 40 hours based on seasonal demand. You will report to the Vineyard Manager and strive for quality and efficiency at all times.
Main duties will include the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all machinery and implements. Undertaking all aspects of vineyard machinery operation including undervine management (Braun, Clemens and Boisselet), canopy spraying, mowing, mulching, trimming, leaf plucking, and netting. During key seasonal periods, such as harvest and netting, you will be involved in managing work teams. Diversity is key to this role and you’ll also be able to undertake general vineyard maintenance including fencing, trellising and irrigation.
Applicants will have a full, clean drivers licence ideally with a W and F endorsement as well as chemical handling training, including current Growsafe, however training can be provided. Applicants will have strong communication, organisational and time management skills.
Applicants will have a strong work ethic, be a team player and have a positive, can-do attitude. An interest in organics, and regenerative farming is a must. We are looking for someone who embraces change, loves a challenge and has the ability to look outside of the box. A commitment to health and safety in the workplace and a practical nature. A willingness to embrace technology is important. A good level of physical fitness and excellent vision with the ability to operate a tractor for a full 8 hour day.
