LeaderBrand Produce is one of New Zealand’s largest and most diverse horticultural businesses. A significant part of this is our vineyard and subsequent wine production. Based in Gisborne, the operation covers 300 plus hectares of Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer vines. We see a strong future in the Gisborne wine industry and have plans for significant growth over the next five years.

We are seeking to attract Machinery Operators to join our dedicated team in LeaderBrand’s viticulture department. We have a modern, well-maintained fleet of vineyard machinery, a dedicated team and full workshop support.

About the role

This is a full-time, permanent role reporting to the Vineyard Operations Manager.

We require tractor operators with experience in using a range of vineyard machinery to assist in the daily vineyard operations.

Applicants will need to have proven machinery handling skills and strong practical ability, and be prepared to assist with various roles within the vineyard when required.

Duties include: 

  • Spray application
  • Mulching/mowing
  • Trimming/defoliating
  • Cultivating/seeding
  • Trellis R&M
  • Vineyard development
  • Harvesting

About you

You will need a can-do attitude, good time management, as well as the ability to work unsupervised. You will have a strong operational background and the ability to self-manage. You will have full drivers’ license and must be able to pass a drug test.

Pay rates are competitive and will depend on the experience of the successful applicant.
