This is a fixed-term role for the Vintage 2021 period – starting the beginning of February 2021 and continuing until the end of vintage (potentially until the end of June 2021).

The position is responsible for:

  • receival and processing of grapes into wine

  • aspects of wine preparation and blending of wine

  • ensuring all tasks are completed accurately, on time, and with due regard to quality, hygiene, and safety

  • leading the cellar team via work allocation, supervision, training, problem solving and team building

  • performing cellar duties as delegated by the Operations Winemaker/Winemakers/Operations Manager

  • following documented Pernod Ricard Winemakers standard operating procedures

  • typical duties can involve wine tankering, general processing, clarification operations, cleaning and barrel operations

  • maintaining a hygienic and safe working environment by continually attending to good cellar housekeeping and cleaning

  • ensuring that safety equipment is used at all times and that issued work uniforms are correctly worn

  • complete cellar works orders accurately and neatly

Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must have worked at least two Vintages

  • Competent on all aspects of the front end and has the ability to train others in areas of experience

  • Weigh bridge and Crusher experience

  • Whole bunch press chardonnay/press to barrel experience

  • Machine harvest whites experience

  • Red drain and press experience

  • The demonstrated ability to coordinate with shift change over

  • Must be familiar with all cellar systems

  • Experience in a wine manufacturing environment

  • Ideally qualifications and/or experience related to Winemaking/Science/Engineering

  • A level of fitness adequate to cope with the physical nature of the position

  • Ability to work in a fast moving work environment

  • Maintain and hold Fork Hoist Licence

  • Technical expertise and competence with winery related tools, equipment and machinery
