We require a dynamic Cellar Crew and a Laboratory Technician to help us bring in the harvest.

Sacred Hill is one of New Zealand’s leading, multi award-winning wineries. Focussing on the production of premium, handcrafted, varietal wines from the company’s estate and contract vineyards located in New Zealand’s leading grape growing regions of Hawke’s Bay and Marlborough.

All major grape varieties are lovingly crafted into a diverse range of premium and ultra-premium wines by our talented team.

We are looking to have all interns employed by the end of January for induction training. Harvest starts late-February to early-March and is completed in early May.

We start vintage working 8-hour shifts, 5 days a week and build up to work 12 hour shifts with the winery in operation seven days a week. At the height of harvest, we run two 12-hour shifts, and you will always get one day off each week.

Vintage processing continues until end of May and we reduce our vintage crew during that time. Depending on how the vintage goes, it is possible that we will ask some members of the vintage crew to stay on for an extended period of time.

This year we are looking for three different roles:

Experienced Winery/Vintage Workers (Cellar Supervisors)

These will be the experienced people we can rely on to organise and motivate the cellar team. Great communication, understanding of grape processing and basic winemaking is a huge advantage. Strong leadership skills are a must.

Cellar Hands

It is not necessary to have direct winery experience, but dependable, focused and hardworking people will do well here. If you are process driven, motivated and practical, you will be perfect for the role. All training will be provided. We do ask that you are physically fit, reliable and have a great willingness to learn, because the environment is fast-paced and physically demanding.

Laboratory Technician

This role will need some prior lab experience. Knowledge of basic lab analysis such as sulphurs, brix, pH and TA will be required. A willingness to get outdoors and into the vineyards collecting grape samples will be a huge plus. You’ll be analysing ferments and reporting back to the winemakers throughout your shift.
