Villa Maria Family of Wineries has a new state-of-the-art winery located in the North Island in the Gimblett Gravels of Hawkes Bay, a multifaceted grape growing region with a reputation for world class Chardonnay, Syrah and Bordeaux Blends in addition to our suite of aromatic white varietals. The winery is home to our iconic brands Villa Maria, Vidal Estate, Esk Valley and Leftfield and presents a unique and engaging opportunity to work with some of New Zealand’s most-renowned winemakers, all under one roof. Our Hawke’s Bay winery is designed to accommodate a range of wine styles and has a particular focus on our significant barrel program.

We are now seeking a Berry Maturity Analyst and Laboratory Assistants to join us in Hawkes Bay for the 2021 Harvest season.   

Berry Maturity Analyst

Duties will vary and will include carrying out daily analysis around the sugar and acidity levels, running pH, TA, Brix, data entry then sending reports to our Winemaking and Viticulture teams.

You will be travelling throughout Hawkes Bay visiting our vineyards to collect samples regularly so you will need to hold a valid New Zealand Drivers Licence. In this role you will get to interact with many parts of the business, Lab, Winemaking and Viti.

Laboratory Assistant

You will be assisting the Laboratory Manager in carrying out daily analysis, ferment checks and data entry as well as aiding in the general running of the laboratory over this busy season! 

Applicants must have a relevant tertiary qualification and relevant experience in a science or lab based role.

What we need from you

We want to hear from energetic, self-motivated people with a hands-on approach. Experience in the wine industry and an interest in wine would also be an advantage.

We are offering fixed term work for our 2021 harvest period and will be between February to May 2021.  Shift work will be required and during the peak of harvest working up to 10 hour shifts across 6 days.
