Uploaded: 24 August 2020

Closes: 24 September 2020

Tohu Wines is the world's first Māori-owned and operated wine label. Since 1998, Tohu has focused on producing estate-grown, single vineyard wines from New Zealand's premier grape-growing regions. The Tohu winemaking philosophy is to create wines that capture the flavours of each region’s unique environment, while upholding respect and protection of the land for future generations.

Based out of our modern winery in the Awatere Valley, Marlborough, we produce a range of cool-climate wines including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Methode Traditionelle, and Pinot Noir.

We are looking for dedicated and hardworking people to join our small winery team for vintage 2021.

The following positions are available for vintage 2021:

  • Vintage Cellar Hands
  • Vintage Laboratory Technician/Cellar Hand

To be considered for these positions you must have excellent attention to detail, be health and safety focused, and be willing to learn. Ideally you will be experienced in all aspects of winery work with a minimum of two vintages experience.

Applicants must be physically fit and able to work long shifts. During the peak of vintage you will be required to work 12 hour shifts.

If successful, you’ll enjoy working with fruit from some great vineyards across Marlborough and New Zealand and will be involved in many, maybe all, aspects of the winemaking process.

As part of your package we will help with accommodation, provide meals during your shift, and if needed, provide transport to and from the winery.

You’ll be part of a small and dedicated team in the winery, so a positive attitude and a good sense of humour are essential.

All successful applicants will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug and alcohol test in accordance with our drug and alcohol policy.

You must be currently living in New Zealand with a valid work visa through to the end of the 2021 vintage period.

Vintage is expected to run from mid-March 2021, to the beginning of May 2021.

Please indicate what position you are applying for and send a cover letter along with your current CV via the button above.

  • Jobseekers should be aware that the start and finish dates of harvest work employment may change from those suggested by wineries at the time of your job offer. Vintage dates can not accurately be predicted.

It is therefore important that you understand that depending on your employment arrangements with the employer there may be a period of time where you have no work or less work than you were expecting, and should have sufficient financial arrangements in place should this occur. Your actual start and finish dates may vary - if you have queries around this, check with your winery employer before booking airline tickets etc.
