Bragato Research Institute drives world-leading innovation for the New Zealand wine industry - from blue sky research through to the practical application of science in our vineyards, wineries, and supply chain. Launched in 2017 through programme funding from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, we are a wholly-owned subsidiary of New Zealand Winegrowers, the national industry body for growers and wineries.

Our state-of-the-art research winery opened in February 2020 on the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology campus in Blenheim. From here, we partner with industry and other research organisations to set the national research agenda, trial world-first technologies, conduct commercial trials, and connect educators and students to science and industry.

The Research Winery Cellar Supervisor will have overall responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operations of cellar activities. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person with at least 3-5 years of cellar experience. This is a hands-on role and ideally you are comfortable to operate equipment, organise workflows, and train, lead and supervise seasonal vintage staff. You should understand Health and Safety requirements, wine quality and food safety and be a practical problem solver with some mechanical aptitude.

Applicants will require sound attention to detail, strong interpersonal and team skills and have good written and verbal communication skills.

This position is full-time and permanent, so only people eligible to reside and work in New Zealand permanently should apply.

A Position Description is available on request to tanya.rutan@bri.co.nz
