Villa Maria Family of Wineries has a new state-of-the-art winery located in the North Island in the Gimblett Gravels of Hawkes Bay, a multifaceted grape growing region with a reputation for world class Chardonnay, Syrah and Bordeaux Blends in addition to our suite of aromatic white varietals. The winery is home to our iconic brands Villa Maria, Vidal Estate, Esk Valley and Leftfield and presents a unique and engaging opportunity to work with some of New Zealand’s most renowned winemakers, all under one roof. Our Hawke’s Bay winery is designed to accommodate a range of wine styles and has a particular focus on our significant barrel program.
We are now seeking Harvest Cellarhands and Harvest Team Leaders to join us in Hawkes Bay for the 2021 Harvest season. So, we need experienced and inexperienced people to join our team as we have different levels of Cellarhand roles to offer.

Vintage Cellarhand - Level C (no experience needed)
If you come with a willingness to learn and have an optimistic, can do attitude and enjoy physical work will be offered a full induction and training program for their role.  Previous experience with grape receival, pressing, crushing, barrel work, wine/juice transfer and racking and clarification processes will be a distinct advantage however not essential as we will provide training to ensure you are ready for Harvest.
 
Vintage Cellarhand - Level B (experience required)
Our experienced Cellarhands assume Team Leader responsibilities during Harvest.  For these roles, you will need to have excellent communication skills as you will work closely with our Cellar Supervisors and will be assist with the training, leading and managing small teams of people during Harvest. You must have the ability to competently undertake several tasks at once while also having a strong attention to detail. Previous experience in the winery and a high level of proficiency with most cellar operations are essential. Health and Safety will be your priority while ensuring all operations are completed efficiently and to the highest standard.

We are offering fixed term work for our 2021 harvest period and will be between February to May 2021. Shift work will be required and during the peak of harvest working up to 10 hour shifts across 6 days.
