It is our great pleasure to have Larry McKenna of The Escarpment Vineyard present his latest releases including the 2008 ‘Kupe’ and second releases of his ‘Insight’ series Pinot Noirs at Regional Wines. Larry has been producing some of the best Pinot Noir wines in this country for nearly a quarter of a century and his experience and expertise, and his wines are always a must to taste and obtain. This tasting will be a fabulous opportunity to taste and understand his wines before purchasing them. Larry has directed the Escarpment range of Pinot Noirs to demonstrate single vineyard site and terroir expression in the Martinborough region with his ‘Insight’ range and these wines are absolutely fascinating.

The 2008 ‘Kupe’ Pinot Noir is the fourth release of this outstanding label, and is now a collectible. However, Larry’s skills as a consummate winemaker can be seen in the very high quality of all of his wines, and we will be tasting the complete range. Introducing the tasting will be the 2009 The Edge Chardonnay, from the Escarpment’s secondary wine range. Then the Escarpment 2009 Pinot Blanc, 2008 Pinot Gris and 2007 Riesling. Two Chardonnays will be tasted, the 2007 Escarpment and new 2008 ‘Kupe’ Chardonnay. The 2008 vintage Pinot Noirs will be led by the supple 2008 Escarpment, with the ‘Te Rehua’, ‘Pahi’ and ‘Kiwa’ wines under the ‘Insight’ designation shown, followed by the flagship ‘Kupe’. And to finish, a decadent ‘Hinemoa’ Late Harvest Riesling.
