| Details: | TE MATA ESTATE SHOWCASE 2010 - THE GREAT EIGHTS – 2008 and 1998 Tuesday 2 March, 6.00 pm start, Cost $30.00 pp, Limit 100 places Venue: St James Theatre, 77-87 Courtenay Place Bookings: With Regional Wines, Tel: 385-6952 or email Every year, the Te Mata Estate Showcase proves to be our most popular tutored wine tasting event. Te Mata Estate remains one of this country’s most respected producers, with a range of classic wines that have a proven track record of performance, as well as new and innovative wines that demonstrate the continuing quest for improvement. The Showcase 2010 will again be special. Te Mata proprietor Nicholas Buck and Technical Director Peter Cowley will present the latest flagship wines at this annual release, which will feature the reds from the superb 2008 vintage. In a truly fascinating exercise, Nicholas and Peter will show the 2008 reds alongside the 1998 reds, this vintage the hottest and driest on record, and one producing incredibly ripe, concentrated and dense wines which have evolved superbly. The team at Te Mata have dubbed these vintages as ‘The Great Eights’. The Te Mata Estate Showcase 2010 will start with an informal tasting of the new release whites: 2009 ‘Cape Crest’ Sauvignon and ‘Zara’ Viognier, the 2008 ‘Elston’ Chardonnay, as well as a mystery wine. Then attendees will be asked to be seated for a more formal presentation comparing the new 2008 and older 1998 reds of ‘Bullnose’ Syrah, ‘Awatea’ Cabernets/Merlot and ‘Coleraine’. As can be expected, tasting these wines will provide benchmarks for the rest of the year. The Te Mata Estate Showcase tastings always book out, so we urge you to book early. |
