Wellington is the official name for the large region which occupies the southern section of the North Island. Wairarapa, on the lower eastern side of the region, is Wellington's only wine district. Martinborough, as well as being a town, is also the oldest and best known wine area within the Wairarapa region.
Pinot Noir is the region's most planted and certainly most acclaimed grape variety. The success of Martinborough Pinot Noir has to a large extent driven the rapid development of this very dynamic and quality-focused region. Climatically Wairarapa is more aligned to Marlborough than to any of the North Island regions. The success and style of its Sauvignon Blanc is evidence of this alliance.
Officially New Zealand's sixth largest region, Wellington is small in production terms but makes a large contribution to the country's quality winemaking reputation.

"The ad with your site has worked a treat thanks! Excellent response."
Marlborough Vintners
"I just received news of acceptance last night for a harvest position in Marlborough, and a facility in Gisborne also contacted me for a job before that. So, in essence I should be thanking you for two jobs as it looks like I will be able to work both jobs. Both jobs came from winejobsonline.com- one replied to my jobseeker advertisement and one I applied for a vacancy you had listed. I have found out that essentially, it is understood that you are the source to go to for wine jobs in NZ...that is at least what I have been told by those in the industry- not a bad reputation to have!"
Evan de la Torre, United States
"Your job web site is very good - I've referred a lot of vintage winemakers to it and they find it really useful. Very unique for NZ and very useful - good work! Thanks."
